Remembrance Sunday Service and Parade
SUNDAY 13th NOVEMBER 2016 Commencing at 10.50am, at THE WAR MEMORIAL, in the CEMETERY, Great Torrington
The Chairman and Members of the Torrington Branch of the Royal British Legion invite you to join the Mayor, Councillor Mrs Margaret Brown, in LIDL’s CAR PARK, NEW STREET on Sunday 13th November 2016 at 10.15am, to assemble and march to the TOWN WAR MEMORIAL in the CEMETERY where the service and laying of the Wreaths will commence at 10.50am. Organisations and members of the public are welcome to attend the ceremony.
PLEASE NOTE THAT PARKING WILL BE LIMITED ON SUNDAY AND SO WE WOULD KINDLY ASK THAT IF YOU ARE TAKING PEOPLE TO THE MEETING POINT AT LIDL’S YOU DROP THEM OFF AND FIND ALTERNATIVE PARKING ARRANGEMENTS IF POSSIBLE.
There will be a retiring collection at the Cemetery in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. After the Service the parade will march from the Cemetery to the Car Park where it will be dismissed. No doubt you will recall on occasions the weather has not been kind to us during the parade and service. Please therefore ensure that you are well prepared and appropriately dressed for wet weather – especially the children taking part in the parade. Woodland Vale Care Home have said that they are happy for people not taking part in the parade to wait in their building if the weather is unsatisfactory.
