Great Torrington Museum is a popular tourist attraction, popular with locals and a key asset as the town celebrates its unique and abundant heritage. The museum hosts over 4700 artefacts, the largest number held by any North Devon museum.  The Museum has a  lot of exciting plans for the future but does need more help to bring these to fruition.

If you love Great Torrington, are proud of its heritage  and have a passion to be involved Peter and Val would love to hear from you. They can be contacted at Torrington.museum@hotmail.co.uk or call them on 01805 622306

Specific needs for help include the following;

  • Bid writing
  • Safe guarding arrangements/policies

Great Torrington Heritage Museum is now closed for the winter months. The museum will open the doors again for the summer in the first week of May.

However on Saturday December 1st Great Torrington will be holding the annual Chamber of Trade Christmas Fayre and the reception area of the museum will be turned into a Christmas Grotto. Please come  and support the museum and the town. There will be a Christmas market and carols in the square at 6.00pm, and much much more!

After Christmas we will be starting on the annual clean of the museum and displays, changing displays and painting areas of the museum which are looking tired. We urgently need volunteers so come and help and you can also learn a little history.

Email, Torrington.museum@hotmail.co.uk or drop a note into the museum, 14 South Street, Torrington, for the attention of Val Morris.
